So I've been thinking about doing a parachute jump for a good while now, and I recently came across a charity local to me, called Against Breast Cancer.
They fund important research and hold a variety of different fundraising sporting events, including marathons, bike rides, and Parachute jumps and skydiving.
I've put the link below if anyone else is interested in a parachute jump or skydive, as they have run the event for a few years.

I also found a YouTube video of a few people Skydiving for charity, which is on Skyline Events YouTube channel, and I've put the link below if you want to watch!

I'll be continuing to look for interesting articles on the internet and sharing them, to help me learn more about parachute jumping and skydiving, and to share the things I find.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a parachute jump (weather permitting!) on Saturday. It's not something I think I would ever have chosen to do myself, but the opportunity was given to do it through somebody I know, and I just sort of found myself going along with it. I know there are people who (no pun intended) would jump at the chance but may not ever get to, so I'm partly doing it to not pass up the experience. It's also something out of character and out of my comfort zone so there's an element of wanting to test myself to overcome something.
I'm doing a 'static line' jump, which is done solo. Aside from being cheaper than a skydive, which was an option, I like the idea of doing it on my own rather than in tandem with an instructor. I think there will be more of a sense of achievement (as well as allowing me to live out a 'James Bond' fantasy for the afternoon!)
I hope this is useful, if there's anything you want to ask, go ahead and I'll let you know what I thought of it afterwards!

Hi David! Thank you for your story, its great to hear other people's experiences! Its interesting you say you choose to do it because its out of your comfort zone (I can defintley relate to that!), was it not something you had on your bucket list then, for example?
ReplyDeleteAh okay, I can't say I've heard of a static line jump before! Have you got more information on that? Is there a particular website you found about it from? I'd be interested to learn more!
I hope you have a great time and I'd love to know how you got on!
